  • Dell offers many product line as a full service IT products vendor. In the virtualization space, Whitehat and Dell focus on their class-leading rack and blade server lines, as well as their EqualLogic and Compellent storage products. All of these products enable the application and desktop virtualization space, and provide excellent value.

  • Since its founding  in 1989, Citrix has been leading the way with application virtualization (MetaFrame-->Presentation Server-->XenApp), and now with their XenDesktop VDI product. Citrix is the acknowledged leader in application and dekstop virtualization. Citrix is also the acknowledged leader in the networking space with their NetScaler product line.

  • With the release of Windows Server 2012, Microsoft is finally offering some enterprise-ready and competitive products to VMware with Hyper-V, and Citrix with their application and VDI products. It will be interesting to see how much ground can be gained against those competitors in these areas in the next few years.

Since then, they have built a huge base and successfully made server virtualization on Intel servers the norm rather than the exception.
